On Open Science Day, the 5th Physics Institute opens the laboratory doors and takes visitors to one of the coldest places in the universe. It gets really cold in this laboratory. Once a minute, one million atoms are cooled down to a few nanocelvins for a short time. This is orders of magnitude colder than anything that exists in nature and made by humans. At such low temperatures, the matter familiar to us reveals its "quantum nature", which leads to completely new effects, such as previously unknown states of aggregation. Learn more about the technology required for these exciting experiments and take a look at the novel "quantum matter".
The "Spiel der Kräfte" invites you to experience physical phenomena with all your senses - touching and experimenting yourself is expressly permitted!
